I'll Bet part 10 by ~DraginFyr:iconDraginFyr:

He entered a room with a single key at the far end of it. There was a little furniture everywhere. A desk here, a chair there, a nice couch on one end; just like any other office. Drew looked at it for a second and started walking towards the key cautiously. When he was just about in the middle of the room, he heard something click. Drew looked around, then up. Something was falling for him. It was something small… and football shaped… a GRENADE?? Drew hurriedly knocked down the desk and hid behind it, just as the grenade hit the floor and shattered into a billion pieces. The desk was thrown back, and Drew hit his back against the wall. Some pieces of the grenade made it to Drew, cutting him pretty badly on his arms, and one cut his stomach. He groaned in pain, but sat up after the room had calmed down. That had scared him half to death. But he had to do this… for May.
He picked up a particularly dull shard and threw it across the room. Nothing happened to it, so he decided to cautiously move for the key. He grabbed the key, but just as soon as he touched it, the room burst into flames! Drew was surprised and stepped back, and some flames licked his arm. He winced as he felt the burn, but quickly pulled away from the wall. ‘How am I going to get out of this?’ Drew thought. Then he got an idea. “Masquerain!” Drew yelled as his moth like pokemon came out. “Use hidden power to break the door!” Masquerain found the door and its wings glowed as it crashed through the door. Just as Drew got out, the flames engulfed the entry, burning his back. Drew cried out in pain as he ordered Masquerain to use bubble, which put the flame out.
Just the key and Drew was hardly well enough to walk. He thanked Masquerain and returned him to his pokeball. Drew walked back where he came from, and made his way to where May hopefully was.

Rodney was in the control room, looking at Drew’s progress. ‘It’s almost like he knows where she is.’ He thought, getting angrier by the minute. This was supposed to be his victory. He didn’t realize that Drew might have actually had a chance. ‘Why is he saving May? Doesn’t he know that he’s at risk? But I need May. I thought he’d just save himself and run. Why doesn’t he just save himself?’ Rodney sighed in frustration, and headed towards the room where he held May captive.

May was scared to death when she heard her “necklace” start ticking. ‘Why did Rodney turn it on? I’m still here’ May thought. What was going on? After a while, she heard something outside.

BOOM

A loud noise shook the floor. May hurriedly shook the life out of the ropes and dropped to the ground. But that thing on her neck was still ticking. “So I have to find a key that unlocks this thing?’ May thought. She had no idea where it would be, and this place could be hundreds of different rooms in here. Just then, she saw the doorknob turning, and May practically jumped out of her skin when it opened. She closed her eyes and waited for Rodney to grab her and put her back in the ropes, but she heard a different voice. “May?”
May was astonished when she opened her eyes. “Drew?” She asked, mainly to herself. She took a step back, and realized Drew had a bomb around his neck, too. “What’s going on?” May asked suspiciously, memories of the night before flooding back to her.
“Rodney wants you for his so called plan, but I’m pretty sure you know that already.” Drew said, handing something to her. It looked like a key. ‘What’s the key for?’ May thought. Drew almost read her mind, and dropped it into her hands. “It’s a key for that detonator around your neck.” Drew said. May was utterly surprised to see him give it to her.
“What about you?” May asked, still holding the key in her hands. Drew stayed silent. “What happened to you?” May asked worriedly, looking at the state Drew was in.
“I had to get the key somehow, didn’t I? And it wasn’t exactly going to come to me.” Drew said, watching her reaction. May felt awful about this whole mess. May was dragged into it with Rodney’s white lies, and Drew had to come and risk his life to save her. Then again, he didn’t have to.
“Why?” May asked simply. Drew knew the question would have come eventually, in one-way or another. He still was reluctant to tell her about what the real story was behind this. The fact that Rodney and Harley had set everything up together, and the bet…
“Because I care about you, alright?” Drew said. At least he could tell her that much. May’s mind was in turmoil at that point. ‘He really cares about me! But what about what happened last night? Was he lying? Was Harley lying…’ May had never thought about that possibility before. All she thought about was how Drew had deceived her. But what if it wasn’t the truth? What if he didn’t make a bet at all? Drew saw that May was in deep thought, so he decided to break her concentration.
“Are you going to just stand there and think, or are you going to take your detonator off before it blows you up?” Drew said, freeing her from her trance. She quickly took it off her neck with the key, and it instantly stopped ticking. Drew sighed with relief. He was finished with what he had to do. The key was stuck inside the detonator, and she couldn’t pull it out. “Come on.” He said, going back to the windows. Drew called out Flygon and broke one ceiling window, flying out of it.
“But what about your detonator?” May asked. Drew knew he wouldn’t be able to keep it from her forever.
“There was only one key.” He said simply.
“One key?” May asked, confused. Then suddenly, it hit her full force. She looked at him with disbelief. “But…” May started, but Drew interrupted.
“It’s too late. Take my pokemon and run. I’ll try to fend off Rodney. He’s probably coming right now.” Drew said giving May the rest of his pokemon.
“Why?” May asked again, tears starting to form in her eyes.
“…” Drew hesitated. Suddenly, the door burst open, and Rodney came out, anger in his eyes.
